This short course in How to Use Advanced Fire Safety Principles to Protect Workplaces from Fires adds to the knowledge and skills developed in the How to Use Basic Fire Safety Principles to Protect Workplaces from Fires. This course explores practical fire safety principles and regulations using the NFPA Life Codes as a guide.
The course is delivered asynchronously. You can view the video recordings (6+ hrs of content) at your own pace and if you are comfortable you can sit the exam to receive a certificate. Premium membership is included with this course.

At the end of the course, you should be able to:
Understand how to use NFPA codes to integrate active and passive fire suppression systems into the construction, design and use of commercial buildings (the types, quantity, and placement of suppression systems).
Use a template (checklist) to facilitate the routine inspection of fire suppression systems.
Understand the factors that increase the time taken for participants to evacuate a building
Describe the impact of perception on the behaviour of people in the event of a fire
Describe the measures needed to overcome behavioural problems and ensure the safe evacuation of people in the event of a fire
Understand requirements for establishing an evacuation muster point
Outline the roles and responsibilities of the fire warden
Apply basic first aid procedures to treat and manage fire-related injuries
